Refund and Cancellation Policy
1. Overview
This policy explains when refunds are available, how to request one, and the timelines we follow. It forms part of our Terms of Service.
2. Our subscription model
ProBodhi subscriptions are one-time annual payments. They do not auto-renew. When your subscription year ends, no further charges will be made unless you choose to renew manually.
Because we do not auto-renew, there is no concept of “cancelling a recurring charge”. If you no longer wish to use ProBodhi, you simply do not renew, and your account access ends at the conclusion of the paid period.
3. When you can request a refund
You can request a full refund of your most recent subscription payment if all of the following apply:
- Your refund request is received within 7 days of the original payment
- You have not substantially consumed the chapter content (for example, completing chapter tests in multiple chapters indicates substantial use)
- The payment was made in error, by mistake, or for a reason that prevented genuine use of the Service
In specific circumstances we may grant refunds outside these conditions at our discretion — for example, if a verified technical issue prevented you from accessing the Service throughout the subscription, or if the payment was unauthorised.
4. How to request a refund
Sign in to your account and visit Help → Request a refund. Tell us in plain words why you would like a refund.
Alternatively, write to support@probodhi.com from the email registered to your account, including the payment date and amount.
5. Review and processing timeline
After we receive your request:
- Acknowledgement: within 24 hours by email
- Review: within 2 business days of receipt
- Processing, if approved: initiated within 2-3 business days of approval
- Credit to your account: within 5-7 business days of refund initiation, depending on your bank or card issuer
Refunds are made to the original payment method used for the transaction. We do not issue refunds in cash, by cheque, or to alternative accounts.
6. Cancellation of a pending payment
If your payment is in a “pending” or “authorised but not captured” state and the subscription has not yet been activated, the payment is automatically released by Razorpay within 5-7 business days. No action is required from you.
7. Failed transactions
If a payment is debited from your account but your subscription is not activated within 30 minutes, please:
- Wait up to 60 minutes — bank reconciliations sometimes complete with a delay
- Check the Help → Request a refund page, which will show the payment if our records received it
- If the payment still does not appear after one hour, write to support@probodhi.com with the payment reference number from your bank
Failed-transaction refunds are typically initiated automatically by your bank or Razorpay within 5-7 business days.
8. What is not refundable
The following are not eligible for refund:
- Subscriptions older than 7 days where the chapter content has been substantially consumed
- Statutory levies, taxes, or payment-gateway fees withheld by Razorpay or your bank from the original payment
- Promotional credits, free-tier access, or discount values (these have no monetary value)
9. Disputes
If you are not satisfied with our refund decision, you may write to our Grievance Officer at support@probodhi.com with the subject line “Refund grievance”. The Grievance Officer will acknowledge within 24 hours and respond within 15 days.
If you remain unsatisfied, you may escalate the matter to the appropriate consumer forum under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
